Introduction

The IoT Pulse Monitor lesson shows students how a pulse counter can track energy consumption (electricity, gas and water) online.

Students build and program their own device from the Sensor Set. It counts the meter's pulses, picked up by a connected LED or magnetic sensor.

What will you need for the lesson?

• A computer with the HARDWARIO Playground application installed
• A projector or large monitor
• Start Set from the HARDWARIO TOWER IoT kit (you will use its Radio Dongle)
• Sensor Set from the HARDWARIO TOWER IoT kit
• Pulse sensors:
  • LED Pulse Sensor, or
  • Magnetic Pulse Sensor, or
  • Magnetic pulse sensor for water meters
